The Gwaii Trust Society is looking to recruit a new executive director after Carla Lutner stepped down from the role on Aug. 12.
Lutner served as Gwaii Trust‘s first chief operations officer for eight years, beginning in 2015. She is leaving to pursue other opportunities.
A former branch manager for the Northern Savings Credit Union who also served as a school trustee and volunteer director for Haida Gwaii Community Futures, Lutner’s time at Gwaii Trust was capped by the successful release of the $62-million Athlii Gwaii Legacy Trust Fund into Gwaii Trust management.
Long delayed by bureaucratic issues, the change raised the total funding managed by Gwaii Trust to $157 million.
Latasha Williams, Chaaw Salee Jaadaas, will serve as the interim executive director for Gwaii Trust until a new candidate is hired.
Williams joined Gwaii Trust as chief operations officer in January and will also continue to serve in that role.
