Daajing Giids council has confirmed the village will receive $45,962.19 from the Northern Development Initiative Trust’s Economic Development Capacity Building program. The announcement was made at council’s regular meeting on Sept. 3.
The program provides annual grants of up to $50,000 to local governments in northern and central B.C. The funds are intended to support economic development by helping communities retain or hire economic development officers, or by backing projects such as planning, research, marketing and business retention.
The Village of Daajing Giids’ agenda lists the grant amount but does not specify how the money will be used. The funds are allocated for the 2025 program year under the capacity-building category.
