The 45th annual Terry Fox Run brought together a couple dozen families and residents in Daajing Giids on Sunday, Sept. 14. Under sunny skies, participants of all ages walked, ran, and biked in support of cancer research, keeping alive the legacy of one of Canada’s most beloved figures.
Terry Fox Run: A Community Celebration
Organizers said the event was informal but meaningful, with families pushing strollers, kids on bikes, and others walking the course at their own pace. Some came out in running gear, while others joined simply to enjoy the community spirit and sunshine.

This year’s run marked more than four decades since Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope captured the country’s attention and inspired communities large and small to take up the cause. For Daajing Giids, the annual gathering has become a steady reminder of resilience, hope, and the power of collective action.
While fundraising totals were not immediately available, residents said the day’s success was measured in the smiles and conversations that carried across the finish line. Many participants have been coming for years, while others were new to the tradition, adding fresh energy to the cause.

The Terry Fox Foundation continues to fund critical cancer research across Canada, with runs taking place in thousands of communities nationwide each September. In Daajing Giids, the message was simple: Terry’s dream lives on, carried forward one step at a time.
