Dear Editor,
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Haida Gwaii to spend time with my sister and her family. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the overwhelming friendliness of the people. For the first time in a long while, I found myself waving to strangers driving down the road, a simple yet heartwarming gesture that reminded me of the warmth and community spirit that defines this remarkable place.
The journey itself was an adventure, with the ferry ride providing breathtaking views and a sense of anticipation. Once there, camping alongside the ocean was an incredible experience. The sound of the waves and the unpredictable weather which was showing rain the whole time we where there but there ended up being much more sun with the fast moving weather which created memories we will cherish forever.
Beachcombing on North Beach was another highlight. The pristine sands and the treasures washed ashore made for an unforgettable day of exploration and discovery. Hiking to the Blowhole was another sight to behold.
We happened to be on island as this paper launched its first edition. The locals’ excitement was hard to miss. You’re a lucky place to have such a great little paper provided to you for free and the ferry schedule was a life saver!
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for making this such an unforgettable journey for all the right reasons for my wife and myself.
Sincerely,
Bob and Rachel Ramsey
