Derek Hardt

My name is Derek Hardt, and I am putting my name forward as a candidate for Council in the Village of Port Clements. I have lived and worked in Haida Gwaii for the past ten years and have built my career in heavy equipment operation, civil construction, and my local business, Rocking Island Rock. These experiences have taught me the importance of hard work, responsible decision-making, and following through on commitments. I’m running because I care about the future of Port Clements and want to contribute to a strong, sustainable community. If elected, I hope to support responsible economic development, encourage tourism and local business opportunities, maintain and improve community infrastructure, and help create opportunities that keep our community vibrant and attractive for residents and visitors. Most importantly, I want to listen to the people of Port Clements, share their ideas and vision at the Council table, and work together to turn good ideas into meaningful progress for our community.
