In 2008, Haida Gwaii became home to my family. Since then, our schools have been central to my life as a parent and educator. I have taught every grade and worked in every school here. I understand how education works as a system, and I know that a school is a vital part of its community. I like finding possibilities to complex problems. I will listen, ask questions and use my voice to be your voice at the board table. Children do best when they can learn in the community where they live and feel connected. I will never vote in favour of closing a school. When budgets are tight, I will keep looking for ways forward that put kids first.
