Police are investigating after a man died from injuries sustained in a vehicle collision in Skidegate.
At 1:17 p.m. on April 22, the Daajing Giids RCMP received a report of a pedestrian-involved collision in the 200 block of Front Street in Skidegate. A vehicle reportedly struck the pedestrian, who later died from his injuries.
North District Major Crime has taken charge of the investigation and is travelling to the community. The Daajing Giids RCMP remain on scene and in the area.
“The investigation is in its infancy but police believe this was a targeted incident,” said Staff Sgt. Kris Clark of the B.C. RCMP. “We are asking anyone with any information to speak with police rather than post to social media.”
Anyone with information, including CCTV or dash camera footage, is asked to contact the Daajing Giids RCMP at 250-559-4421.
Later the same day, the Village of Skidegate passed an emergency resolution placing the village under curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The curfew will remain in effect until rescinded by the Skidegate Band Council.
