Rubber ducks race down the Tlell

Teachers and parent volunteers waded into the Tlell River on May 19 to let loose 1,200 rubber ducks in a fundraising race for Mr. Wahl’s Grade 6/7 Sk’aadgaa Naay Elementary class.

A strong breeze blew the ducks against the riverbank, but students and parents pitched them back into the main river current until finally some winners broke free.

First to cross the line was lucky duck #468, netting a $2,000 prize for David Crosby Junior. The fundraiser will support the class’ end-of-the-year trip to T’aalan Stl’ang Rediscovery Camp.
