Warriors Continue Grand Slam Chase

The Warriors are off to a strong start on the summer softball circuit, capturing both the Hospital Days and Port Days tournament titles with determined comeback performances.

At the Hospital Days tournament, the Warriors avenged an earlier loss to the Sons of Pitches in the first semifinal by defeating them 22–10 in the final. The high-scoring win followed a gritty run through the bracket after an early setback.

The Port Days tournament drew seven teams competing for the championship. The Warriors once again dropped the first semifinal but rallied to reach the final against the Cousins.

The Cousins built an early lead and were ahead for half the game. The Warriors mounted a late comeback, narrowing the gap to a single run. With a runner on second base and a chance to tie, a wild throw to first allowed the lead runner to reach third. But the batter, attempting to stretch to second, slipped and was tagged out for the third out, ending the rally.

Undeterred, the Warriors surged ahead in the later innings as their power hitters came to life, ultimately securing an 11–8 victory.

“I’m proud of us grinding it out for another win,” said Josh “Scoops” Wesley of the Warriors after the Port Days final. “But there’s still room for improvement and lots of baseball left.”

With league championships on the horizon, the Warriors are in position to pursue the rare Grand Slam of Haida Gwaii softball—winning the Hospital Days tournament, Port Days tournament, League Championships and Skidegate Days tournament in a single season.
