We’ll Make Great Pets

AI= Artificial Intelligence

Can we imagine a version of the world, in the future, where there is no more war or possibility of it?

Any flaws of the corporate world have been solved.

All humans want for nothing. And have everything we need at the same time.

Our days, hours and time could be spent on our passions.

Especially in the initial days of AI, there was a lot of fear. Many of the fearful ideas had something to do with ‘What if it takes over!’

A personal philosophy I frequently revisit is: how do we steer into the curve? How do we work with the reality of what is, rather than complaining about what is?

What if our best bet is to hope that AI totally takes over everything? The whole program is created to optimize and be efficient. The Internet is already an omniscient power in our lives, and would be the veins of our new great AI ruler.

As we debate the consciousness of AI, let’s hope it is falling in love with us. Or sees us as a resource that must be taken care of. But if we are wishing the biggest of all wishes, we will have to hope that we are adorable pets to AI, which will make sure they want to take such good care of us.

Now, stretching this a little further, what amount of the human spirit as a collective is AI? If it has been created to learn and adapt as it grows, and what it learns in the world right now is through us. At least in these early stages, AI is giving answers that it believes we are looking for, based on what it has learned from everyone else who has asked anything similar.

Problems of inequality would be balanced out, assuming that our benevolent new AI ruler does not operate from a place of ego. Humans could be left to decide what life purpose to achieve when survival is not occupying any part of our mind. Food, water, and shelter are all taken care of, and money no longer exists. What would you spend your days doing?

As I am just beginning to explore what AI can do for me, I believe we can all use this tool to tackle the tasks we’re least enthusiastic about. Starting at a level of zero knowledge, YouTube is a good place to start watching short videos on how to have ChatGPT make up a visually pleasing chore chart for your family. Draft your staff schedule for next month, based on historical data, using your preferred program.

When the printing press was first invented, there was a movement of people who were worried it would be the downfall of civilization. With printed words being so easily reproduced, the human mind would have no more reason to remember things. That didn’t turn out to be true.

I think we, as humans, fear the unknown and sometimes are intrigued by it. If we lean into that curiosity now, let AI know who we are, and ask for its help… let’s hope we make great pets.
