Golfers of all ages vied for top honours on the Aug. 17 and 18 weekend at Haida Gwaii’s most prestigious annual golf tournament: the Willows Open in Sandspit.

In the junior division, Lucas Kowalchuk claimed the Junior Winner title. Owen Ismay followed a close second.

The ladies’ division was equally competitive, with Lori Wilson taking home the Low Gross title.

Wilson’s exceptional play throughout the tournament demonstrated her experience and control on the course.

Her accuracy and precision with each shot secured her position at the top of the leaderboard.

On the net side, Susan Standbridge clinched the Ladies Low Net title with her impressive play.

The men’s division brought several seasoned players to the greens.

Long ball specialist Darcy Pearson was on top of his game, winning the Men’s Low Gross title.

In the Men’s Low Net category, veteran Garner Moody earned top honours with a well-executed game.

Garner’s ability to manage his play across both days allowed him to edge out the competition.

The standout moment of the 2024 Willows Open came on Sunday, during the final round, when Rhea Botel made a hole-in-one on the 13th hole.

A hole-in-one is always a rare feat in golf, and Rhea’s shot on the par-three 13th will surely be remembered as a highlight not only of this year’s Willows Open but of her golfing career.
